The Atomic Brains were formed in 2002 in the ashes of Lindley
and Daniel's previous band, the Raw Deals. The Raw Deals were a rare thing in Jackson, Mississippi and their sound seemed
to allure people in the small capital city. The band self destructed as soon as it was beginning to get off the ground
good. Daniel and Lindley had been collaborating since their early teens, and were again
looking to start a new project. Jason Sickle, of the now infamous Eunuchs, recorded some tracks for the Raw Deals in 2001. Jason
had expressed interest in getting on board the new project. One night while drinking at a local bar named Musicquarium,
Lindley met Woody Conwill. The two began talking and by the end of the night Woody was the Atomic Brains' drummer. Woody was
also at this time in the power pop act the John Black Attack. The band's sound was a combination of Lindley, Daniel, and Jason's
songwriting, which often differed but somehow still meshed to form a solid rock and roll sound. The band began practicing
and started to earn good press and respect playing the local scene. In the process a well-circulated self-released
EP was released to locals and abroad. The band then began playing out of Jackson and recorded the soon to be released
seven inch. One day to everyone's surprise Woody quit the band. By this time Daniel was also playing with the Tuff Luvs and
he was soon to follow, ending long time collaboration with Lindley. A Midwest tour was already in the works so Lindley and
Jason grabbed local drumming genius Murph to fill Woody's reins, which he did with ease. Ryan from the local country
fried punks, Goodman County joined on bass and the tour went on as scheduled. A few shows, unreleased tracks, and a couple
flopped record deals later the group played their last show at the the legendary George Street Grocery during a fest which
included Jack Oblivian and the Tearjerkers and The Preachers Kids just to name a couple. As of April 2007 no plans for a reunion
are set, but a new CD compiling many recordings is due out on June 1, 2007.
